Charlotte (Émilie Dequenne) is a sound engineer whose mother is murdered one day in her house in the countryside. When she decides to visit the house, Charlotte soon realizes that she doesn’t know much about her mother’s life in the village whatsoever.
The official investigation isn’t going anywhere, and the place seems full of secrets, so Charlotte decides to take action, using her sound equipment to carry out her own investigation. While listening to a recording just made in the house where the murder took place, Charlotte discovers a strange phenomenon – sounds from the past blend in with sounds from the present.
“I realized that the voice was what I missed the most after the death of a beloved one. As if voices faded quicker than images. What were his words, his intonation? What was his laughter like…?
To relive a moment from the past, to hear someone’s voice again… I felt like giving Charlotte this ability, beyond reality. She needed to be able to do so thanks to her own sensitivity. Thus her line of work.
I didn’t decide to make a supernatural movie. It’s the subject itself that has set this dimension.”
